Great food but mask compliance was not good.
None of the staff wear masks, so go get a side of covid with your bbq here.
Place where you feel safe and great food
Had the Woody's Signature, it was delicious and huge! Wasted my money on the side of fries, couldn't eat them after that monster sandwhich.
Awesome!!!! Love every sandwich and the lemonade is a must try!
Fun, kitchy atmosphere and outdoor eating. Plenty of places to stop,b relax and eat some seriously good BBQ. I enjoy the Carolina style, my wife enjoys Memphis style, and my daughter gets the chicken chunks.
Had pulled pork sandwich, vinegar based sauce. It was great! Wait for food was a little long but reasonable. There are no bathrooms onsite.
Good food , outdoor seating and corn hole :)
And that's being generous. A third of my take out order is missing but I did get the "homecooked" beans - Not and the slaw was so so. The fries were cold and greasy and barely cooked. Soggy actually. The sandwiches we did get were loaded with meat - good but could have used some more bbq sauce. My wife liked it. The banana pudding was good. After waiting so long to order because nobody would answer the phone and then waiting an hour for my food, if it had been great I would be forgiving. Unfortunately, it wasn't and knowing I overpaid for two sandwiches because the platter components were missing "the meat" made it worse.
Good BBQ Food and Great Atmosphere!
It was good but not enough bbq sauce on my sandwich and the drinks were hot out of the cooler. Do not get the Sweet Tea
"The rib meat falls of the bones." The common refrain for BBQ joints, but it's certainly true here. Reasonably priced slow-smoked meats which, if only accidentally rather than by design, also happens to be gluten free (not the cornbread, though). My only critique is that I wish they had more choices when it came to the sauce. They have their own vinegar-based "red sauce" that they seem to put on everything, so if you less of the Carolinas and more of the Texas BBQ you're going to be out of luck. With that said, this place is well worth the visit and is a gem that you might otherwise miss.Watch out for the seagulls. The pesky critters have an eye out for your food and, if you're not careful, they'll swoop down and steal some food. One landed on my wife's head and stole some fries!
Absolutely delicious BBQ, unfortunately the service is painfully slow. 30-45 minutes after ordering on multiple occasions for orders with two sandwiches.
The best pit beef and authentic mexican on island
Good BBQ and cool vibe. Nicely pulled pork sandwiches, not minced. Good smoke flavor, good sauces, and good quantity for the money. I could only eat half my Woody's Signature sandwich. $30 for two sandwiches, two drinks and a medium order of fries. Both Carolina Sauce and Woody's Sauce a full of flavor with a nice heat. Not too hot. The Carolina is peppery with vinegar and mustard. The Woody's sauce is a Memphis style sauce without being too sweet. Great fries, I think the use peanut oil. Soo good. We will be back.
This place might be great during the summer but didn't love it during the off-season! Our sandwiches were cold and soggy making me think food was reheated. However, fried corn bites were great! They came with a very yummy sauce.
Woody's doesn't try to do all sorts of things - they just do a couple of dishes really really well. Pulled pork? Amazing. Fries? Amazing. And the surfer chill ambiance is spot on.
AMAZING food!!! We had the sampler and there was enough food for 4 people! It was so delicious!
Good food, the atmosphere with corn hole, teether ball, etc... Worth the visit. Gated your for from the flock of gulls who attach all uncovered items and land on your table.
Quite disappointing. Soggy overdone pulled pork, flavorless slaw, and beans and applesauce that tasted like they came from the grocery store. Definitely not the same Woodys that originally opened years ago. Chincoteague has been invaded by outsiders looking to cash in on the tourists with no regard to quality. Sure bets for a great experience are Pico, Shore BBQ, Chincotiki, and some of the family run seafood carryouts. We’ve been coming here for twenty years, and it’s getting harder and harder to find a good meal.
The staff is very friendly we came to the Island for a early birthday surprise for me due to me about to have surgery We were at the water park and the smell from Woodys drew us to place a order we ordered a sample platter that included ribs chicken and pulled pork we didn’t want any sides the ribs were not cut and tasted boiled they didn’t have any type of smoke flavor from a grill the pulled pork was dry flavorless and the chicken we didn’t even bother with the bar b Que sauce was very thin and runny I guess Woodys serve the purpose for the beautiful people of Chincoteague also they didn’t put any type of utensils in the bag for us to eat if anything I would tell people to come visit overall the island is gorgeous and the people are very friendly and welcoming
I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with their"almost world-famous sauce" there was little to no sauce on the meat itself all the sauce was on the wrapper and outside of the the sauce would have been better had it been straight out of a ketchup bottle I waited almost half an hour to get my food that was lukewarm will not be eating here again
Most delicious food! Guys that work there are awesome. Patient and kind. Always go to woodys when I visit CI.
The sides, cornbread and pulled pork was good, and their fried food smelled delicious. I ordered a half chicken and half rack of ribs, and wasn't really impressed. The chicken was quite dry. BBQ sauce was served on the side. I did like that the kids meals come served in a bucket and shovel for the beach.
this is a fun place to get a snack. and chill on the island
Good bbq and the sides are awesome too. I will fight for the last serving of the gingered applesauce. Nice spot to stay and eat too with a few different table setups and outdoor games.
Chill place, great sandwiches. We always stop here when we're in town.
Hit and miss with the food. The ribs are good but the chicken was like charcoal. Super stingy on the portion and the sides are a joke. If you want good bbq head further south.
Woody's cooks wonderful bar-b-que food here! Ribs are fantastic, throwback soda glasses are classy, outside activities is fun for the whole family, and the music makes you feel like you're actually at the beach itself. Try this food. Its delicious!
Best food at the cheapest price. I have never had a bad experience. Food is amazing. And something for everyone
Awesome scenery and it had a poke gym lol
My family ate there recently and we found it to be only average. We believe, however, that this may in part be due to the fact that we ate there quite early in the summer season. This may have had an effect on the food prep.
Service was fantastic and fast. Food was great, genuine wood fire smoked pork and fresh hand cut fries. Iced tea and lemonade was fresh and refreshing. Would definitely go again.
Super tasty bbq with outdoor eating. Fun games like tetherball that the family can enjoy together. Music was a little loud, but I felt like it helped contribute to the island vibe. Would love to come back again!
Good food, nice place, liked the music and reasonably priced.
Great bbq. Smokey but not overwhelming. Subtle sauce. Great value. Plus I could eat with my pup
We got a woody’s classic, a pulled pork platter and kids meal. Sides we tried were beans, apples sauce and coleslaw. All the food we had was excellent. The cornbread is like cake. This place has a great vibe. Lots of shaded outdoor eating areas. Some are standing tables and some picnic tables. We would definitely recommend it!
Always a destination for lunch or dinner, for a great barbecue! Fun atmosphere outside too.
We've been coming here for over 10 years. Woody's is the original star of outdoor eating and bbq on the island. Favorites are the signature "messy" (with cole slaw) and the Memphis. Add fries and corn nuggets and you've got yourself a delicious feast.
Great place to eat food was amazing
This is the way to enjoy a bar b que! Tender, juicy, mouthwatering pork, handcut fries, that's how its done!
Not one employee wearing a mask or enforcing patrons to practice social distancing despite state mandated mask orders. Terrible portion sizes compared to previous visits over the years - an absolute disappointment.
Fries were soggy and way overpriced for the amount you get, peach lemonade tasted like lemonade no peach at all. Chicken chunks were average. Best part was the sauces. Super dissatisfied for all the great reviews it had. Won’t be returning.
Great BBQ, COOL outside atmosphere. Friendly service
Great BBQ on the island! Have to catch them when they're open, but it's worth it!
Love love love the BBQ! oh, and the sauces..and those ribs..well basically everything on the menu! Yummy!
Food was easy to order and came out fast. Too fast if you ask me. The fries were under cooked, which I understand some like that. The ribs fell off the bone perfectly but could have been warmer. The sauce was a bit vinegary, but still good. The pittsburgh sandwich was good. The cooler for the drinks was a vat of warm water, so order a lemonade instead, it comes with ice.
Best Carolina pulled pork on the Island only place to go for lunch.
We have enjoyed Woody’s in the past. My most recent visit soured me a bit. The woman who took our order and brought out our food answered questions three times with the response “Well I don’t work here...” She refused to give us a second red sauce after we spent $35 on a pound of pork, a large coleslaw and two corn fritters. It’s just one more small container of red sauce- why be stingy? Of course she didn’t work there...? Also, the pork was fatty. The corn fritters were AMAZING and the atmosphere is really fun.
